THE MEMORIAL THAT SACRIFICES ARE
The sacrifices we make for each other are a memorial in honour of us for the benefits of the generations of tomorrow. For while we make them, someone is watching and not only watching but also recording. Our eagerness to pour ourselves out for the sake of others, age not withstanding, speaks volume to the keen onlooker. They follow the portrayal of these selfless displays with an eagle-eye to pick on the acts. And these acts are sometimes done with the least thought of the risk involved. Yet the best of sacrifices humankind has made, is to go to war for the sake of their fellow human beings, most times, citizens of their country and which only constitute a tiny little segment of the whole of humanity.
Yet no matter how much sacrifice humankind makes, such is not anywhere close to matching the sacrifice that Jesus made for the sake of all of humanity. Unlike humankind however, Jesus did not match out to fight a physical foe, but sacrificially walked to the cross to have sin nailed and death disappointed and disgraced.
Like our sacrificial acts that typify our love for our fellow human beings, Jesus Christ left the honour and comfort of heaven and came down to earth and died a heinous death to pay with his blood and life the humanly unpayable, accumulated and outstanding bill of human sin. By his stripes then, we are healed; by his blood we are washed and sanctified and by his life -death and resurrection, we are raised from being dead in sin to a living hope. His total sacrifice was a demonstration of God's love for the whole of humankind, including those who unjustly tried him, those who flogged and crucified him; those mocked and jarred him; for he had prayed, "Father forgive them for they know not what they do." The cross on which Jesus died is the supreme sign of the amazing sacrificial love of God for humankind. His victory over sin and death, has made sons and daughters of all who believe in him and has also opened the gate of of heaven, the eternal family home of all believers, the place of eternal dwelling to them.
For your Christ modelled earthly sacrifices, the anniversaries and memorials of them shall be celebrated in heaven, a place where you will be reminded of all you may have forgotten of your Christ-like earthily acts and where your historic and heroic deeds to especially least privileged of humankind, shall be recanted and celebrated.
If Jesus lost his life and gain it again, there is no sacrifice you have and will makevin his name, for the sake of your fellow humankind, that a memorial will not be raised in remembrance of in heaven when we all are finally ushered home. Therefore never you be tired of doing good for when the season is ripe you shall be rewarded-reep a harvest.
Stay blessed
